What is Aromatherapy?

The use of essential oils to heal the mind and the body.  Aromatic plants played a central role in the healing of early humankind.

Aromatherapy has been developed over the years as a complementary health-care discipline.  It is a combination of massage and essential healing oils.  The main treatment is full body massage ( back, arms, legs, feet, stomach) using specially selected essential oils, diluted in a base oil and applied to the body.  The power of touch is instinctive and can become a powerful healing tool.

How can Aromatherapy Benefit You?

Everybody and anybody can benefit using aromatherapy.  Each essential oil used during a treatment contains properties, which can help a wide range of ailments some of these include reducing anxiety, ease depression, boost energy levels, speed up the healing process, induce sleep, improving digestion and increase circulation.  The essential oil is applied to the body which enters the skin through hair follicles where they are absorbed into the blood stream and circulated round the body.  The oil strengthens the immune system along with giving body and mind time to relax and rejuvenate.

Aromatherapy can also be used in several different ways.

  • diffusing a combination of essential oils into the air using burners
  • inhaling oils through the nostrils directly from a cloth
  • receiving massage therapy utilising essential oils
  • soaking in an oil infused bath
